Tokyo
東京 is the Japanese and Chinese title for Tokyo, the capital of Japan.
It is written the same in both languages but pronounced quite differently in Chinese.
Giant
巨人 can mean giant or great person (great man or woman) in Chinese, Japanese Kanji, and old Korean Hanja.
巨人 is also the short name of the Tokyo Giants baseball team.
Sometimes the Japanese female name Mito.
Kaiju
怪獣 is a Japanese word for monster or “strange creature.”
This usually refers to a genre of tokusatsu films. These films feature monsters that often attack Tokyo or fight with other monsters. The most internationally famous of these is the Godzilla franchise of movies.
Kagune
When 赫子 is pronounced as Kagune in the context of Tokyo Ghoul, this is a ghoul's predatory organ and functions as their weapon and claws.
赫子 actually means shining or awe-inspiring child and is also the female given name Kakuko in Japan.
Om Mani Padme Hum
Oṃ maṇi padme hūṃ
唵麼抳鉢訥銘吽 is one of the earliest and best-known mantras in the Buddhist tradition.
It can be heard in temples from Tokyo to Tibet.
This mantra is an expression of the basic attitude of compassion. It translates literally as “oṃ the jewel in the lotus hūṃ.”
There are several titles and transliterations for this mantra, including, 六字大明呪 (Great 6-syllable mantra), 六字真言 (6-syllable Sanskrit mantra of Avalokiteshvara bodhisattva), 唵嘛呢叭咪吽, 唵嘛呢叭咪哞, and 唵嘛咪叭呢哞.
