変態 is a Japanese word that originally meant transformation, metamorphosis, abnormality, or pervert.
In English, this has come to be the name for a genre of Japanese anime and manga pornography. However, in Japan, it remains a short word to describe any perverse or bizarre sexual desires or acts.
一は全、全は一 means “One is all, all is one” in Japanese.
一は全、全は一 is a somewhat well-known modern proverb in Japanese. However, many will associate it with an episode of Fullmetal Alchemist, a popular Japanese anime series.
Note: Because this selection contains some special Japanese Hiragana characters, it should be written by a Japanese calligrapher.
革 is the Chinese, Japanese Kanji, and old Korean Hanja for animal hide, leather, tanned animal hide, skins, hides, or pelts.
This can also mean to reform, remove, strip, expel (from an office), or to cut off.
革 is also a Japanese given name Arata and can refer to the anime character of the same name.
Japanese Anime Series
ナルト is the title “Naruto” from the Japanese animation series. See Naruto Anime Series.
Because of the unique Japanese character set used to write this title, it can only be written by the Japanese master calligrapher. Do not try to order it from one of my Chinese calligraphers.
Please note that while this is the correct title for this anime series, it can also mean the “@” sign or “at” in Japanese under a different context (a Japanese person not familiar with the series may be confused by your wall scroll).
Note: Because this title is entirely Japanese Katakana, it should be written by a Japanese calligrapher.
天竜人 is Celestial Dragon or Tenryūbito in Japanese.
This title is associated with the One Piece Manga/Anime series. This title is also translated in this context as “World Nobles” with the literal meaning “Heavenly Dragon Folk” or “Heaven Dragon Person/People.”
Can also be romanized as Tenryūbito, Tenryūhito, or Tenryūjin.
The following table may be helpful for those studying Chinese or Japanese...
|Romaji (Romanized Japanese)
|Various forms of Romanized Chinese
|hen tai / hentai
|Ichi wa Zen, Zen wa Ichi
|ichi wa zen zen wa ichi
|arata / kaku
|gé / ge2 / ge
|na ru to / naruto

|ki metsu no yaiba / oni metsu no ha
|ten ryuu bito

|In some entries above you will see that characters have different versions above and below a line.
In these cases, the characters above the line are Traditional Chinese, while the ones below are Simplified Chinese.

All of our calligraphy wall scrolls are handmade.
When the calligrapher finishes creating your artwork, it is taken to my art mounting workshop in Beijing where a wall scroll is made by hand from a combination of silk, rice paper, and wood.
After we create your wall scroll, it takes at least two weeks for air mail delivery from Beijing to you.
Allow a few weeks for delivery. Rush service speeds it up by a week or two for $10!
When you select your calligraphy, you'll be taken to another page where you can choose various custom options.
The wall scroll that Sandy is holding in this picture is a "large size"
single-character wall scroll.
We also offer custom wall scrolls in small, medium, and an even-larger jumbo size.
Professional calligraphers are getting to be hard to find these days.
Instead of drawing characters by hand, the new generation in China merely type roman letters into their computer keyboards and pick the character that they want from a list that pops up.
There is some fear that true Chinese calligraphy may become a lost art in the coming years. Many art institutes in China are now promoting calligraphy programs in hopes of keeping this unique form of art alive.
Even with the teachings of a top-ranked calligrapher in China, my calligraphy will never be good enough to sell. I will leave that to the experts.
The same calligrapher who gave me those lessons also attracted a crowd of thousands and a TV crew as he created characters over 6-feet high. He happens to be ranked as one of the top 100 calligraphers in all of China. He is also one of very few that would actually attempt such a feat.
