This is a very traditional and sophisticated scroll.
The title means "Red Plum Blossom Announces the Coming Spring".
After the title, the rest of the Chinese characters include the year painted (2008), the artist's signature red stamp, and an old Chinese poem about the strong yet beautiful nature of plum blossoms.
This is a freehand style painting by 
(Li Lin) who lives in a village near Guilin city in southern China.
Materials used in this work are watercolor and special black Chinese ink on rice paper. Later I had the painting mounted to a silk wall scroll.
