Autumn HerdI think the title says it all. A young woman looks of at the sunset as she tends to her animals. Perhaps she is there to tend to the cows, the ducks, or maybe both. This is a nice primitive-folk-art-painting. The artist used a series of handmade stencils which were placed on the paper as paint was flicked from a stiff brush to create a mist of paint spray. This painting is by Zhang Qing-Yi from a small town called Qindu in Huxian County in the Shaanxi Province of China. These folk art paintings show scenes that are typical of village life in the middle of China. Material used in this work are "shui fen" (paint powder and water - similar to gouache), on thick paper.
