A great traditional large-format painting.
This is done by
(Chen Shi) of Shandong Province in Northern China. I was introduced to this artist's work by artist Qin Xia's gallery manager (who happens to also be Qin Xia's cousin). He lives a bit too far outside of Jinan city, so I did not get a chance to meet him face-to-face. But I really liked the style and composition, so I had to buy the artwork.
There is not really a title on this painting, but rather a long poem about bamboo (it's an old poem that is tough to translate into English). Also on the painting is the artist's signature, and signature seal along with a few personal seals of the artist.
A very special handmade paper is used for this artwork. There are fibers, artifacts, and bits of bamboo or cotton husks embedded in the paper. This gives the whole painting a very natural and somewhat antique look - if you like granola, this high-fiber paper is for you! (just don't eat it).
