We've had a report of potential corruption or excessive customs duties / taxes in the Philippines.
A package marked with a value of $100 and shipped via EMS was accessed taxes that equaled US$80 (levied in Philippine Pesos). After the customer screamed and yelled at the manager of the post office, the taxes were reduced to $40. It was the customer's belief that the official at the post office may be corrupt, and might just be lining his pockets with whatever tax money he could collect (whether lawful or not).
The same customer had a prior order shipped by regular air mail. That order was delayed by a full month. However, no taxes were accessed.
If you are a customer in the Philippines, please expect either a long delay via air mail, or possible customs duties levied if you use a faster postal service.
These issues are beyond our control. However we will follow your instructions if you have any suggestions as to how we can avoid these issues when we ship your order.
