Looking to purchase custom seal chop

Post by Abasskin » Jul 21, 2014 2:11 pm

Hello,

I am looking to place a custom order for a chop.

The name (in Tibetan) is Künsang Rangdrol. In English it translates to "Self-Liberation of the Ever-Excellent One."

Could this be done? In four characters? How about two? And in what ways?

Thanks!

Aaron

Just to clarify, you are trying to get this written in Chinese characters? Or, Tibetan?

I don't think we can do Tibetan. Also, there's not a lot of chops used in Tibetan art - at least not the same as how common they are in Chinese art.

I'm looking to get whatever the equivalent might be in Chinese.

I suggest just the first or last name. Otherwise, it will be almost too many characters.

Okay, what would "Basskin" look like, and how much might it cost?

It will look like this in Chinese:
巴斯金

However, the seal script used for chop carving is quite different. But that's hard to show without actually carving it. You can get an idea of what it will look like from the sample images here:
http://www.orientaloutpost.com/proddetail.php?prod=chop

The price will start at $60 for a 3-character chop carved by the master carver. That's for a 20mm x 20mm chop. For $5 more you can get a 25mm chop (I recommend this upgrade). For another $5, a 30mm chop is available.
