Two New Mounts

Post by paphio2 » Feb 8, 2015 11:08 pm

Greetings, Gary:

Thank you for the reply, Actually, these two silk panels are not mounted. Therefore it should be quite straight forward to mount, not remount them.

I should have started a new topic rather than continuing the previous one; thus the confusion. My fault.

Here are the sizes again:
The horizontal one (landscape) is 15" x 48". The vertical one (7 persons) is 50" x 18".

Thanks in advance.

Sorry this took a while. I had to consult with my workshop manager (master mounter). We're both worried whether this is on one piece of silk, or has been partially mounted to paper. Hard to tell from the picture.

Mounting silk is tricky anyway. Over time, it's virtually guaranteed to have some waviness or wrinkles develop. The silk and paper that it will be mounted two tend to expand and contract at different rates, causing the wavy or wrinkled appearance. Even works in Chinese museums have this issue.
