Re: Three Kanji wall scrolls to translate
This has been really tough. I should have really looked at it, and ran it past my translator before I took on the job. The cursive characters are hard to read, and in some cases, the language (Chinese, Japanese, or even old Korean Hanja) is hard to determine. Some are certainly Japanese with the Hir...

Re: Three Kanji wall scrolls to translate
Translations like this take more time, effort, and expertise than most people appreciate. Therefore I can't do them all for free. The first one is 虎 , written in a very cursive and variant form of 虎 It means " Tiger " A single character like that is pretty easy compared to your phrases, but it takes...

Re: How to write my name/phrase in Chinese
If this is the English name Leen, I have added that here: http://www.orientaloutpost.com/shufa.php?q=leen However, if that was supposed to be a Chinese name (perhaps from Cantonese), we will need to figure out the meaning and then the correct characters for Leen and TaeHyung. That could be complicat...

Re: korean calligraphy
Continuing from our email conversation: Do you want 영원히널사랑해 or the more common 영원히사랑해 ? 영원히 = forever 널 = you (in this context) 사랑해 = I love you So, 영원히널사랑해 is like "forever [regarding] you, I love you", if I understand it correctly myself. I understand the mechanics of Korean language, but I don't ...

We're going to give you a couple of wall scroll mountings for free next time you send a batch of artwork in. It's the least I can do for this huge mistake.

Re: Manjushri on lion
I looked around a bit. An original thanka style painting would be really expensive. But if you (or I) can find a large enough (at least 1600 pixels wide), I could print it on handmade xuan paper for you, and mount it to a wall scroll.

Re: A new name
Because this name has meaning, I would pick a title from this page: http://www.orientaloutpost.com/shufa.php?q=Justice This will be better than picking some characters that kind of sound like "justice". Plus, many of the titles on that page are universal (same meaning of justice in three Asian langu...

Re: Three to mount Feb 2015
Sorry Greg. I should have waited a couple days, so I did not have to look like such an idiot. They did locate the artwork - just misfiled by the employee that usually does not file the artwork as it arrives. We will ship it out within 24 hours via EMS (Express Mail) at our expense. I can't wait for ...

Re: A Demon who Heals
Something like that... 癒し悪魔 Is something like "Therapy Demon". Well, 癒し犬 is therapy dog anyway. 癒し means healing; soothing; therapy; comfort; solace. I need to consult a native Japanese translator to get this to be more natural. Being OK at conversational Japanese does not qualify me to compose new ...

A couple of us looked at this. There are different styles and thus different tastes. Some people like a certain style, or specifically a certain calligrapher's artwork.
This looks like quality xing-kaishu to me, and my staff.
Cheers,

Re: Just want to know what this signature says
OK, the other character might be 磐. Pronounced "pan" in Mandarin, or often "Han" in Japanese. It can be a given name. Meaning: firm; stable; rock; boulder; crag; cliff; anchor; Other Japanese pronunciations: (surname/given name) Ban; (given name) Iwane; (given name) Iwao When written in cursive, thi...

Re: Just want to know what this signature says
One of the characters is 新 meaning "new" and romanized as xin (sounds a bit like "shin"). In Japanese, it is usually pronounced "shin" but can also be pronounced various ways when used as a surname, given name, or personal name: (surname) Waka; (surname/given name) Hajime; (surname) Niihama; (surnam...

Re: Unusual Kakejiku/Pleaze Help!?
I had a couple people take a look. Just too many things make this difficult. The characters are too light and hard to read, the characters are specially-styled (not typical tensho), and they seem to be overly elaborate (extra strokes or combined characters). They are related to bagua and fortune tel...

You can find it here: http://www.orientaloutpost.com/shufa.php?q=%E7%B2%BE%E7%A5%9E%E5%8B%87%E5%A3%AB If you want this in Hangul (modern Korean), just click on the Hangul characters next to the South Korean Flag. I don't sell a lot of Korean Hangul, so it's not vividly advertised on my site anymore....

If I can easily identify the character, I will.
Sometimes its really stylized and hard to read, so I can't tell you until I see it how easy it will be.

Re: Translation and price of a scroll
One way to do this is to say, "King (or Queen) of all Jewels". This would be 寶王. Lots of other related terms: http://www.orientaloutpost.com/dictionary.php?q=precious+jewel I need to talk to the native translator to figure out how to incorporate the "universe" part naturally into this title you want...
