Chinese scrolls are made by first creating a wonderful piece of art on rice paper. That rice paper is then mounted (laminated) to a few more sheets. Some silk brocade cloth is added which becomes the scroll's body. A wooden top frame with a ribbon for hanging is added to the top of the scroll, while a roller is added to the bottom with solid wood knobs on both ends (though in some cases, the knobs can be of other materials, or omitted).

The result is a traditional piece of Asian Art that can be hung on your wall with just a nail or hook. The best part in my opinion is that a Chinese wall scroll does not require expensive professional framing to present the artwork. It is a great way to decorate your home for a reasonable cost.
