Close up view of the Asian woman artwork mounted to this silk brocade wall scroll
This is the roughly translated title of this scroll which features a beautiful semi-nude woman.
This is from a collection of (beautiful women)
This painting that I had mounted to a very nice silk scroll was created by Ya Rong who is originally from Shanghai, but spends a lot of time in Guilin, China (which is where I bought this artwork).
The Chinese characters in the paintings include the title, artists signature, and a poem about the piece.
The poems are very complex and difficult to translate but in general terms, they speak of the virtues and beauty of women and how they compare to the flowers or bamboo portrayed in each scroll.
The artist uses a combination of free-hand, and detailed work to make this piece. The woman's face, eyes and many parts of her body are very detailed, but other parts of the painting (such as the flowers and her clothes) are much softer. This is done on purpose to drawn your attention to her, and allows the other parts of the painting to melt softly into a wonderful background.
