Information about how this Asian painting is mounted

Chinese Bamboo

This is a nice painting of natural bamboo.

It's always hard to get a good picture of artwork - this painting looks much better in real life

In Southern China, bamboo is very important as it is used to build houses, small bridges, and is even used for day to day things like chopsticks.

Chinese Bamboo Artist Shao Dan and Sandy

Sandy meets with famous Chinese baqmboo artist, Shao Dan in his studio near Xi'an in the Shaanxi Province of China.

Bamboo has a deeper meaning in Chinese culture. Bamboo represents the aspects to a true noble gentleman. Bamboo is straight (honest), and Chinese people also believe that bamboo represents the modesty, strength, and it never gives up because it continues to grow taller and taller. All of the traits of a good man.

Created by "Wang Bing Zhong" who paints under the pen name "Shao Dan".
The artist is from Gansu Province, but lives near Xi'an in the Shaanxi province of China. He is a very famous traditional artist for painting bamboo portraits in China.

This is freehand green watercolor mixed with special black Chinese ink on rice paper with unique tropical-pattern silk matting.

Gary's random little things about China:

I pee freely:

If you come to China, save your small change...
In Beijing, the government recently passed a law against charging money for using a public toilet.
However, in other cities and towns around China, expect to pay between 2-5 mao (about 3-5 cents) for the use.
Bring your own toilet paper, or expect to pay 5 mao for a small pack of tissue as you enter.

In my opinion, the best public toilet in all of China is at Tian'anmen Square.
This public restroom is not only clean, but also features its own gift shop.
