San Diego, California: Part-time shipping clerk, photography assistant, and more...

We need a part time shipping clerk to process and pack orders at our Northpark San Diego location. This may include photography assistance and other random tasks.

If possible, we'd like someone fluent in Chinese OR Japanese, and able to at least communicate at a basic level in English.

Hours can virtually be set by you, and would be about 20 hours per week.

Must be somewhat comfortable with using a computer. Experience with Excel is a plus.

This is probably a great job for a student or someone with a complex schedule that needs to make a little extra money.

Pay:
Starting pay is $10 per hour.
If you are able to read/write/type Chinese or Japanese, starting pay is $12 per hour.

Beyond pay, benefits include discounts on artwork, and ability to learn how to start and run your own online business.
Possibilities for paid travel to Beijing as a courier do exist.

Beijing, China: Part-time manager - position available Autumn 2008...

Sandy has been my business partner since 2002 when we started this business from my apartment in Beijing. She got married last year, and will be coming to live in the USA.
This leaves a position open in Beijing for someone with a keen eye for detail, negotiating skills, and a positive personality.

Responsibilities:
Quality control inspections at our workshop near Beijing.
Receive and inspect artwork sent from all over China by our artist friends.
Pick up artwork as needed from our Beijing artist friends.
Keep an accounting of money spent locally for artwork, mounting labor and materials, travel expenses, etc.
Pack and ship artwork in bulk via China Post, DHL, and or FedEx as needed (actually just managing our staff at the workshop as they pack, and filling out some paperwork).
Pack and ship individual custom calligraphy orders to our non-USA customers via China Post.

Requirements:
Must be able to communicate effectively in Mandarin Chinese (English a plus, but not necessary).
Willingness to travel and find more artists a plus.
Must be able to create basic expense reports (probably in Excel).
Must keep me up to date with status and progress reports via email.

Pay will be negotiated. It may be hourly, by piece of artwork processed, or salary. It's probably 25-30 hours of work per week. Pay will be at least $1000 (Y8000) per month (That's how much I made as a full time teacher in Beijing - and lived like a king with the low cost of living in China).
Hours are very flexible.
