Re: Kanji for Indonesian phrase

I found the original poem where the sentence come from, and the Chinese translation for the poem. So if you want the poem version of "Dari mata turun ke hati", this is it "从秋波传入心田". If you need a general version for "From the eyes to the heart", you can use: 从眼睛到心底 (from eyes to the button of the he...

Re: Calligraphy Translation

You are welcome. Glad we can help a little bit. :)

I love that poem, 枫桥夜泊(feng1 qiao2 ye4 bo2) by 张继(zhang1 ji4) :)

月落乌啼霜满天,江枫渔火对愁眠。
姑苏城外寒山寺,夜半钟声到客船。

Anyway, people still wrote poem in ancient style nowadays, so what you were saying is totally possible.

Re: Translation

知足 (zhi1 zu2)

知(zhi1) = knowing
足(zu2) = enough

A lot of the time, you'll see these two in a phrase "知足常乐", which means "Happiness lies in contentment".

Re: Calligraphy Translation

You are welcome:) What you suggest does make sense! I checked 如 and 平, found couple of different ways to write cao script, here's how they might look like: 如: 如 or 如 为: 為 or 為 平: 平 or 平 手: 手 or 平 As you can see, they do look a lot like. But to me the characters from your picture still look more like...

Re: Calligraphy Translation

You are welcome :) And don't worry, my respond is way slower...:) Very impressive you know QuYuan and ChuCi! :) Well, I took another look. The poem written by QuYuan called 远游, which pronounced exactly the same as the two characters from the "poem" you got. But the second character is not the same. ...

Re: Calligraphy Translation

The characters read from left to right, top to bottom, seems to be:

远由依为迫
?手田渺了 (Can't recognize the first character)

I believe they are Japanese Kanji (Chinese characters), and possibly part of a poem. But they don't make much sense in Chinese.

Sorry, that's all I can get...

Re: can you please translate this japanese writing?

The characters are mostly likely 誠山關(cheng2 shan1 guan1) that written in ancient seal script.

It probably the name of the place where they made this vast.

But I'm not 100% sure.

Re: Can you reverse translate?

The second character is a little bit blurry, they are very likely to be these:
志 zhi4 = the will/goal/ambition
殊 shu1 = unique/different

Together it means different wills/goals (for one's life).

Hope that helps!

Re: Japanese?? Symbol meaning

As you mentioned, that two symbols are the same character, 寿/夀(shou4).

It means longevity in Chinese. Things with this character on are the number one option as gifts for Birthdays. Although it's usually for adults. People don't use that word for kids for some reason.

Hey Eric :) This is Cat, the Chinese translator. Sorry for the delay! I'm really glad, even excited to see Scott's posts! For one, "铁石" is the first one and pretty much the only one I can think of for the meaning "iron stone"! (Pronounced as "tie3 shi2") Second, "铁石心肠"(tie3 shi2 xin1 chang2) is the ...

Re: SQUARE SEAL SCRIPT _ A Life of Serenity Yields Understan

Both of the designs look cool! The characters in the old design are in the right order. The whole layout reminds me the typical Chinese calligraphy art work, black ink characters, red stamp at the end. In your case, red snake symbol at the end :) really cool! The characters in the new design needs s...

Good news: The picture you posted shows this right-side-up. :) The phrase is (read from right-to-left in your picture): 海 Ocean / Sea 納 百 川 It translated as "All rivers run into the sea". It's a fairly well known phrase that originally comes between 328-376 A.D. The phrase is intended to tell people...

Re: chinese tattoo

For what you want, all three options you have are correct. In fact, the first two are exactly the same, just the first one in traditional Chinese, the second is simplified. I recommend the first one 每個人都會犯錯. First, it's shorter. Second, it sounds a little bit more literature vs. the last one as a da...

Here is one idea that somewhat related with "enjoy life":

enjoy life => being happy => how to find happiness => it lies in contentment...

Just a thought... :)
